COVID-19 Resort Security Guidelines

Reference is made to our circular dated 28 March 2020 (Ref: 88-DMU/ CIR/ 2020/ 22) regarding Reporting of Incident s and Emergencies.

As the global COVID-19 pandemic deepens and travel industry comes to a halt with closed borders and cancelled flights, tourism industry of the Maldives is severely affected. Companies are taking drastic measures to minimize economic damage and protect their employees, such as temporary closure of their business and evacuating all employees from the resort except security personnel.

At this challenging time, special security measures are needed to protect and safeguard the tourist facilities. Recognizing the importance and urgency of this situation, the Maldives Police Service, in consultation with Ministry of Tourism has prepared a Resort Security Guidelines for COVID-19, which includes measures that can be adopted by tourist facilities.

We are sharing with this circular, the above-mentioned Guidelines for the discretion of the resort management. It is highly recommended that the management treat the document as confidential and adopt the measures provided.

We remind all facilities to be extra cautious and thank all for the support and cooperation during this difficult time.
