Subject:                       Travel Procedure, as per HPA announcement (IUL) 23-L/452/2020/4 dated 16 December 2020

 

Dear Sir/Madam,

With Health Protection Agency (HPA)’s number (IUL) 23-L/452/2020/4 dated December 16, 2020, some changes have been brought to the restrictive measures in place to counter the spread of Covid-19 in the Maldives. With reference to these changes all tourist establishments are required to fulfill the following conditions;

Short Term Workers (less than 6 days):

  • Obtain the permit through the mechanism in place at that point of time, prior to travel from the Ministry of Tourism.
  • A PCR negative result from a test done prior to 72 hours of travel.
  • Arrangements of accommodation and meals independent of the resort’s resident staff and in line with the respective guidelines of the Health Protection Agency (HPA).
  • Short term workers returning back to Male’ Area (Male’, Hulhumale and Vilimale) from resorts are not required to undergo the mandatory quarantine.
  • Short term workers who are travelling from one resort to the other are also not required to undergo the mandatory quarantine and the 72 hours prior to travel PCR test.
  • Short term workers travelling to another resort after returning to Male’ Area are required to obtain a PCR negative result from a test done prior to 72 hours of travel.

Staff travelling from abroad to Resorts and Developing Islands:

  • Obtain the permit through the mechanism in place at that point of time, prior to travel from the Ministry of Tourism.
  • A PCR negative result from a test done prior to 96 hours of travel from the first port of embarkation.
  • Submit the health declaration form and other required details through Maldives Immigration’s ‘IMUGA Portal’ prior to a time frame of 24 hours before arrival in to Maldives.
  • Staff travelling from abroad to resorts and developing islands are required to undergo the mandatory quarantine of 10 (Ten) days and obtain a PCR negative result before reporting to work.

Domestic Tourists visiting Tourist Resorts:

  • Permitting locals and work permit holders to visit tourist resorts as domestic tourists.
  • A PCR negative result from a test done prior to 72 hours of travel.
  • Arrangements of accommodation, food and beverages and other services for domestic tourists must be arranged in the guest area of the tourist resort, independent of the resort’s resident staff and in line with the respective guidelines of the Health Protection Agency (HPA).
  • Domestic tourists who are travelling from one resort to the other are not required to undergo the mandatory quarantine and the 72 hours prior to travel PCR test.
  • Domestic tourists returning back to islands other than the Male’ area undergo the mandatory quarantine.
