‘The Maldives Border Miles’- Maldives introduces loyalty program for tourists

Maldives introduces ‘Maldives Border Miles’ program, the first of its kinds loyalty program developed in the entire world for tourists. During a virtual ceremony, the Minister of Tourism Honorable Dr. Abdulla Mausoom inaugurated ‘The Maldives Border Miles’ program. The ceremony was graced by the presence of Controller General of Immigration, Mr. Mohamed Ahmed Hussain, the Managing Director of Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC), Mr. Thoyyib Mohamed and the Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Maldives Airports Company Limited, Mr. Gordon Andrew Stewart. This is a tourism promotion program initiated by Maldives Immigration, and developed in association with Ministry of Tourism, Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) and Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL). The program will officially be implemented on 1st December 2020.

The Maldives Border Miles program is a three-tiered loyalty program for tourists. The three categories in this program are; Aida (bronze tier), Antara (silver tier) and Abaarana (gold tier). Each tier will be defined by a set variety of rewards, services or benefits, which increase in value as members progress. Tourists who enroll in the program will earn points for each border crossing and the duration of stay. Additional points are rewarded visits on special occasions and based on the purpose of the visit.

The Maldives Border Miles is expected to encourage repeat visits to Maldives and the members are to benefit from various advantages offered by participating industry partners that include hotels, resorts, guesthouses, safari vessels, airlines, airports, dive and water sports centers, souvenir shops etc. With the introduction of the Maldives Border Miles program, it is expected that tourism will boost considerably as it is an added advantage in promoting Maldives. Furthermore, it is also a golden opportunity for returning visitors to rediscover the best of Maldives and get the most out of their visit to the sunny side of life.
