THE 14TH UNWTO ASIA/PACIFIC EXECUTIVE TRAINING PROGRAMME ON TOURISM POLICY AND STRATEGY

The 14th UNWTO Asia/Pacific Executive Training Online Programme, a three day training programme was concluded today, 17th December 2020.

This is the only programme of its kind in the region and is renowned for its stimulating content and thought-provoking discussions.  The programme focused on high level officials within their respective governments across Asia and the Pacific region provides a platform for sharing knowledge and experience, to learn of successful practices in policy and strategy formulation and implementation.

This year’s theme for the 14th UNWTO Asia/Pacific Executive Online Training Programme is Tourism and Rural Development, which is a pressing topic for destinations across the globe. The programme is specifically designed to support tourism policymakers and managers. It aims at strengthening effective and responsive policies and strategies that in turn must adapt to changing priorities and concerns at the national and destination levels.

The Minister of Tourism, H. E. Dr. Abdulla Mausoom participated in a Special Session of this training programme as a keynote speaker, delivering a snapshot of Maldives Tourism under the theme, Restarting International Tourism: Successful Cases and Practices in the Era of the New Normal. In his speech, Minister highlighted on the successful measures Maldives has been practicing since re-opening of border, to brand Maldives as a safe and secure destination.

A total of 37 delegates from 18 countries participated in the training programme conducted from 15th to 17th December 2020.
