COVID-19: Transfer of Staff to Home Islands

Following our recent survey on staff stranded at resorts, we are working with concerned authorities to make arrangements for the staff to be able to travel to their home islands. The detailed lists of local staff we have received from resorts have already been shared with the Local Government Authority {LGA) and Maldives Police Service. LGA will communicate with relevant island councils to make sure those staff are allowed to enter their home islands. However, prior to traveling to any island the staff will need an official travel permit from the Maldives Police Service.

Furthermore, please be informed that Maldivian has scheduled daily cargo flights to different islands. Staff wishing to travel to these islands by the cargo flights can purchase tickets from Maldivian, provided they have a travel permit from Maldives Police Service.

Hence, we request the resort management to get necessary permits and flight confirmations and make arrangements for the staff to travel. For travel permits from Police, please contact [email protected] . For flight bookings, please coordinate with Maldivian at [email protected]

Resort management should make arrangements for staff to travel to their islands or to the airport for a scheduled flight. Please note that, staff should ONLY be sent to the airport after receiving a confirmed flight ticket as they will not be allowed to enter any other island except for the islands stated in the lists provided to us.

We also remind all the facilities to follow Ministry's circular number 88-SS/CIR/2020/24 dated 3rd April 2020 with regard to the expatriate staff in resorts.

For any queries please feel free to contact us at 7223131 or [email protected]

We thank you for your continued support and cooperation during this challenging time and remind all to adhere with regulations and guidelines set out by concerned authorities.
