Reopening of Border for Tourists

The Government of Maldives has decided to restart issuance of on-arrival visas to tourists who have booked stays in resorts, hotels on uninhabited islands and tourist vessels from 15th July 2020 onwards. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic the ministry has formulated a guideline on extra procedures to be followed during the opening period. As per the guideline, facilities have to submit a health and safety plan to the Ministry and obtain approval prior to accepting new arrivals.

Additionally, the tentative timeline for guesthouses and hotels on inhabited islands to start accepting arrivals is 1st August 2020 subject to the national COVID-19 status. Please send the attached declaration form and the health and safety plan as per the attached guidance to [email protected] to obtain the necessary clearances prior to resuming operations.
